Horse Time Philosophy I have designed this unique equine assisted recreational program for anyone, with or without a special need, who desires a meaningful relationship with a horse.
A traditional Therapeutic Riding program requires a diagnosis of a disability in order to become a student. Because I believe so strongly in the power of the horse to teach us, I invite everyone to benefit from the unique experience of having a meaningful relationship with a horse. Allow a horse to become a doorway into your own self-discovery.
What Happens At Horse Time?
Every lesson at Horse Time is specifically designed to meet the needs, abilities and goals of each individual student. Lori values spontaneity, playfulness, and following the sacred timing and lead of the student. You will have the opportunity to progress at your own speed and comfort level.
All lessons are private with only one student and one horse. All lessons, regardless of ability or disability, are focused on promoting every aspect of independent horsemanship and riding. Each to their own ability!
When you become a student at Horse Time, we will begin by building trust and confidence on the ground between the student and the lesson horse. From there, we add leadership, horsemanship, and when applicable, riding skills.
It is not necessary to ride in order to be part of Horse Time. There are many reasons why some students never intend to ride, and come only to experience the powerful healing benefits of having a meaningful relationship with a horse: Confidence Relationship Skills Patience Communication Respect Appropriateness Listening Skills Self-Awareness Giving & Receiving Trust Self-Control Love
Time & Cost All lessons are billed at $55/hour. Lesson time options are available for anyone in any program, billed accordingly: 1 hour 1-1/2 hour 2 hour lesson
There is no extra cost for assistance from the Volunteer Horse Time Team.
A basic place to start for a beginner is one hour. If possible, I strongly advise the 1-1/2 to 2 hour option. As we allow the student more relaxed time with the horse, the student begins to really begin to experience the magic of Horse Time.
Horse Crazy Program These private lessons involve the student, Lori Conner as the Therapeutic Riding Instructor, and the lesson horse. This program is designed for people who have no diagnosis of a special need or disability. It is Lori's version of a traditional horsemanship and riding lesson.
Ride For Health Program Some students require more support in order to ride safely. This is Lori's version of a traditional Therapeutic Riding lesson.
In this program we bring in the Horse Time Team: * Leader: a trained horse specialist who is responsible for the safety and care of the horse and leads the horse throughout the lesson until the rider can ride independently. * Sidewalker - a trained assistant who walks alongside of the rider providing physical and emotional support. * Lori Conner as Therapeutic Riding Instructor.
Visit the Navigation Bar at the top of this page, click on "About", scroll down to "Horse Time Team" to learn about Lori's amazing team of trained volunteers.
Once a student from the Horse Crazy Program shows considerable skill in horsemanship & riding in the arena and has passed my tests, trail rides are also available. A trail ride experience includes grooming, tacking the horse, warm up in the arena, and will last between 2-3 hours. Bring a picnic lunch and we'll hit the trail together! Trail Rides have a special price of $125
Come to Horse Time and discover yourself through the power of the horse! I look forward to meeting you and sharing the magic of my horses with you.
